Classroom Websites

I decided to make a classroom website in 2009 as a way to keep communication open with my student's parents. I also know as a working mother, I love to be able to see what my children are doing throughout the day. The website gives parents an opportunity to review spelling and sight words, see pictures, and keep in contact with me. If you've never thought about making a classroom website, but always wanted to, please ask questions! When I started our classroom website I was having a difficult time finding resources. It would have been nice to have a source or someone who had already been through the building process (which was surprisingly easy once I got started!!) I will also be adding some of my other classroom favorite websites built by teachers. If you are proud of your classroom website, please include it as a link in the comments below! Your site might be an inspiration to other teachers who are looking to start their own classroom website!!

  1. Great presentation at the Pre-K/Kindergarten conference today. Im so inspired to go back and try somethings in my room!

Anyway, here's my classroom website http://mcauliffeprek.shutterfly.com

We are required to give our parents an update each day on their child whether its hard copy or email. I got tired of writing an email and uploading pictures somewhere else so I came up with this.

And the best part - its free!!!

Attached to it, my co teacher and I each have a separate website where we collect the chldren's pictures for their portfolios (which are also digital!)
